Need More Detailed Help?
It’s easy to create a new learning event in Balance. Simply click the New Learning button at the top of the page.
Using a keyword, you can search the Balance curriculum for the objective or sub-module that you want to teach in a lesson.
Balance has been pre-populated with every area of the primary curriculum for English (reading and writing), Maths, Science, Geography, History, Computing, PE, MFL and Art to a granular level, making it easy and intuitive to use.
In the example below, we have created a lesson called 'Counting 15/04/19'. When you type something in the search bar, it will predict what you are typing, and will offer suggestions.
Depending on what class you select from the drop-down box, the system will determine which curriculum to show you. For example, if you have Class 2T selected, it will only show the Year 2 curriculum. However, you can use the filters to see the curriculum from other year groups.
Please Note: The date field will default to today’s date. To change this, pick a date from the calendar that appears. You can choose any date in the past or future within the current academic year.
Once you have searched for an objective or sub-module, it will show any objectives, sub-modules or modules that contain that key word(s). Click on the green + icon (highlighted below) to add an item to the learning event.
If you would like to add curriculum items from another year, you can enable this by expanding the search (after you have searched for an objective or sub-module).
By default Working Deeper (WD) objectives will be included in your search. If you want to just see Working Deeper objectives, select Only WD (as below).
Once you have selected the objectives that you require, you can preview the Learning Event by clicking on the View Selected button. When you are happy with everything, you can click on the Create button.
How to Edit Recorded Learning
Click on the title of any learning event to edit that record. Alternatively, click on the edit button next to the event you wish to edit. This will take you to the Edit Learning page.
From here, you can edit the date and title of the learning event, as well as any previously recorded
scores on the learning wheels.
Please see our How to use the Learning Wheel and Save Time by Scoring Multiple Pupils Help Guides for more information.
